Woody and Dee Dee, I am sorry to hear of Walt's passing. I worked at Wireco in the Engineering Department under his oversight. He brought professionalism to the daily operations at work. Walt persuaded me to achieve my professional engineering license. I did so, and it had a lot to do with the positions that I acquired in later years at General Motors, Honeywell, and at the Hickory and Dallas County Health Departments. Larry Rice

DeeDee Crandall (Clingan)!!! So sad that our reconnection is through the condolence wishes in your dear father's passing! I hope you remember me - we went to Eugene Field Elementary School in St. Joseph together before your family moved, and spent many a sleep-over night together as young girls! My brother Bob Cummings sent me a copy of the obituary. Our parents passed in 1986 and 1992, and our oldest brother Charles in 1991. My heart goes out to you at this time. I'm glad to read that your father had such an amazing life and pray that you can relish in the memories of your time together. Thinking of you with love Susan Cummings Hurst

Many of us in St. Joseph, MO, have fond memories of all Walt did to help this city, through United Way, the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. We will always be grateful for the paths he opened that allowed some of the rest of us to follow in his footsteps. He provided some great leadership and mentoring, and this is a better place because of what he offered.

Dear DeeDee, Mal, Woody & Kathy, Bob & I will miss your Dad, he was a real gentleman & a good friend, we feel like we've known him forever. We are happy that we could spend time with you as you went through this time of sorrow & stress. It's a sad time, but also a joyful time because we know Walt was a believer & is in the arms of God AND we will see him again. I ask that God comfort all of the family as you celebrate your dad's life. I'm sorry that I will not be with you on the 31st, but I will be there in spirit. Blessings with Love, Nancy

Walt and I were golf buddies. We played together on a regular basis. We shared many memories of our earlier personal lives. Most golfers tell each other their inner thoughts and express our opinions on a very wide subjects. I an very happy to have shared ny thoughts and values with Walt. He was a pretty good golfer and liked to play by the rules. He was a very good buddy and was very kind to me when I had physical problems that made me unable to play golf. He showed his kind and compasionate nature by being supportive and concerned about me. I will miss him very much. I know God will greet him with open arms as he enters Heaven. Good Bye Walt, I will always remember you fondly.
