Obituary of John Herbert Bailey

John Herbert Bailey, II, 76, passed away on Sunday December 12, 2021 after a long illness.

John was born on April 8, 1945 to John Herbert Bailey and Stella (Nicpon) Bailey. He was born in Schenectady, New York.

He received his A.A. Degree from Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, NY, attended SUNY Albany and received his B.S. in Business Management from Barry University in Miami, FL. He began his career in Florida at Harris, as a semi conductor, then at  Space Gateway Support, National Association of Corrosion Engineers. His career at Cape Canaveral included Johnson Controls and United Space Alliance. He was a member of National Association of Corrosion Engineers, (NACE), Member of Structural Steel Painting Council, (SSPC) and a Member of National Management Association.

John’s great passions were sailing and cars.

In his early church years he attended Ballston Center Presbyterian and later Florida Trinity Wellspring Church in Satellite Beach.

John was extremely knowledgeable in the testing and evaluation of materials and in January 2008 he was specially awarded The Silver Snoopy, a cherished award from NASA presented by an Italian Astronaut for his outstanding support of the Space Shuttle Program as a Corrosion Specialist.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Brader) Bailey who together enjoyed their summers on the Great Sacandaga Lake sailing with their sons. His sons, John Bailey III, Kirk and Scott Bailey, Sister, Linda (Bailey) Zullo, grandchildren Tyler, Madison, and Mackenzie. His grandchildren were his greatest joy.

A Memorial Service celebrating John’s life will be held at Trinity Wellspring Church on December 30th at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made in John's name to your favorite charity.
