Obituary of Merrily Timmins Longacre

Merrily T. Longacre, 79, of Indialantic peacefully passed away with her loving husband Jack and daughter Alex by her side.

Merrily was born to William and Frances (Sparks) Timmins on November 16, 1942 in Macon, Georgia. William was a major/dentist and Frances flew planes in WWII. Merrily is preceded in death by her mother Frances. She was then raised by her father and her stepmother Ruth also known as Nana who was a homemaker, taking care of 7 children. Merrily’s family includes Susan Baum, William Timmins II, Barbara Winters, Christina Waddington, Deborah Belles, and Steven Timmins (Debbie).

Merrily attended grammar school and High School in Swedesboro, NJ, where she meet Jack at a young age, before moving onto Gettysburg College in PA, George Washington University in D.C. and finally graduating law school at LSU.

Jack and Merrily were happily married for 57 years, living in Florida early on while she taught at Melbourne High School and Jack went to school at F.I.T. They enjoyed a life of traveling throughout the years, living in Puerto Rico for 2 years, Canada for 2 years and then Louisiana, where they had their only daughter in 1980, Alex. They returned to Florida in 1991. During this time Merrily worked as an Attorney. She was very active in the community as she was needed for many legal matters. In 1999 she and Jack traveled and lived on Andros Island in the Bahamas, then the Marshall Islands and finally Hawaii, before returning to their favorite home in Florida where they retired and enjoyed time with family, friends and their grandchildren.

Merrily had many passions in her life with the most important being her family and grandchildren! She was one of the most devoted people to her family. She enjoyed traveling, the beach, swimming in the pool, reading, watching movies and cooking. She was a member of a monthly book club with her friends, she would help her grandchildren all the time with school work and sports and she was a member of the Florida Bar Association.

Survivors include her beloved husband Jack, daughter Alexandra (Justin), grandchildren Zane, Guy, Vivien, and Levi.
