Obituary of Everette W. Crone

Everette, Eddie, Ed, Ebb Crone, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle was born in Williamsville, Virginia on August 28th, 1937.  He passed peacefully on April 22nd, 2022 at his home in Hibiscus Court, Melbourne, Fl.

 

Eddie’s family moved back to Greenbrier County, West Virginia from Williamsville before he was two years old.  Eddie graduated from Lewisburg High School and went to work as a fingerprint examiner with the FBI.  This employment was ended when he volunteered for the Army.  He was a marksman but was assigned to the White House as a cryptographer.  Eddie did not speak of his work because it was of such a sensitive nature. 

 

After his military service Eddie moved to Florida, and managed Scotty’s Hardware Stores in Ft. Pierce, Florida where he met and married Audrey. 

 

Both Eddie and Audrey were avid golfers and were married on their favorite golf hole.  Eddie and Audrey enjoyed many years together, traveling and golfing.  In Eddie’s retirement years he did some wallpapering, worked at Tropicana and drove a school bus for Brevard County.  Eddie liked to keep busy!

 

Eddie was a member of Suntree United Methodist and the Viera Elks, #2817.  He volunteered for many charitable activities, one of which was “Men Cooking From the Heart” to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Brevard, in which he participated for over ten years as a chef.  

 

Eddie’s siblings called him Ebb, saying he knew the value of a dollar and that he was a shrewd wheeler and dealer, apparently even making some memorable school lunch trades.

 

Eddie is survived by his wife of 34 years, Audrey, his brother Walter Crone, Sister Francis, stepsons Tom (Paula), Chris (Pam), step-daughters, Joanne (Scott), Lucinda, numerous grand children and great grandchildren.  Three nieces, three nephews and countless grand nephews and nieces.  Ed was proceeded in death by his parents and his younger sister Loretta.

 

Eddie’s brother Walter said “It took many years of observing others to realize we were a close knit family who while self-sufficient would take care of each other when needed.  Nothing unusual, we just enjoyed life.  He said that “Mom raised a Baptist, a Presbyterian, a Methodist, and a Catholic.”   

 

Eddie will be remembered as a loving, kind and funny man and will be greatly missed. in lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
