Obituary of Doreen Mavis Higgins

Doreen Mavis Higgins passed into the arms of her loving Savior Jesus on May 7, 2024. Doreen was born December 8,1932 in Lincolnshire, England to Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Doris Lyons. 

Doreen travelled the world between her father being in the Royal Air Force and her husband being in the U.S. Navy.  She met Arnold Higgins at a military dance on the island of Malta and they were married on September 13, 1952. She enjoyed being a mother and homemaker when her daughters were young and eventually as a respected waitress at the Patrick Air Force Base Officer’s Club.  Her most favorite job in her golden years was working at Publix as an Aprons lady for 15 years, finally retiring to better care for Arnold at the age of 83! She was a strong woman of faith, avid reader, and lover of all games and puzzles.

Doreen is predeceased by her husband of 70 years Arnold Higgins and sister Barbara White. 

Doreen is survived by her 4 daughters: Lynda Lewis (Dick), Candy Cook, Kim Higgins, and Debbie Anderson (David). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Jennifer Cook, Tiffany James, Harry Pritchett, Ben Anderson, Thomas Anderson, and Joseph Anderson; 7 great-grandchildren: Levi James, Loyal James, Lathan James, Joliah James, Lillie Mae Pritchett, Brooks Pritchett, and Hannalyn James.

Celebration of Life service will be held at the Patrick SFB Protestant Chapel @ 84 Harrier Avenue in Satellite Beach on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 @ 1pm with fellowship to follow in the Chapel Annex. Burial ceremony to be held at a later date at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
